Keeper Pictures’ Oddity [edited by Brian Philip Davis] has won the Midnighter Audience Award at SXSW 2024, following the film’s World Premiere at the festival.

Oddity, written and directed by Damian McCarthy (Caveat), recently had its World Premiere at SXSW 2024 in the Midnighter strand. Following this, the Irish horror film won the Audience Award in this strand.

Oddity follows a blind medium who uncovers the truth behind her sister’s death with the help of a frightening wooden mannequin. The cast includes Gwilym Lee (Bohemian Rhapsody), Carolyn Bracken (An Cailín Ciúin), Tadhg Murphy (The Northman), Caroline Menton (Altar Boys), Steve Wall (The English), Johnny French (The Rock in the Sea), Joe Rooney (Killinaskully), Shane Whisker (The Pope’s Exorcist), and Ivan de Wergifosse (The Last Duel).

The Keeper Pictures film is produced by Katie Holly (Extra Ordinary), Evan Horan (Caveat), Mette-Marie Kongsved (I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore), and Laura Tunstall (Come To Daddy).

Other Irish projects that premiered at the festival include Pale Rebel Productions’ short Sound and Colour, written and directed by Emma Foley (Dead Run), produced by Tamryn Reinecke (It Is in Us All), and starring Alison Oliver (Saltburn). Netflix’s 3 Body Problem, starring Liam Cunningham and [shot by Richard Donnelly, ISC and PJ Dillon ASC, ISC] was the Opening Night TV Premiere of SXSW 2024, and will debut on the streaming service this Thursday, March 21st.
